With each session, He integrates personal attention, affection and high regard dogs deserve into a professionally-planned, rigorous but enjoyable time.
My Philosophy.
My approach to dogs changed dramatically after a conversation with a client. He was speaking lovingly and almost in sheer awe of his beloved companions. After I mentioned that they were great dogs, he casually corrected me by saying “they’re not dogs”.
Ever since then I started to see things completely differently. From my perspective, these fellow world citizens had every much a right to be here as I was and to be able to enjoy themselves as well. I went from a hybrid of positive reinforcement techniques to total positive reinforcement without any harsh corrections. The behaviors tend to change a little slower but what I found was that the dogs became much happier and less stressed out.
Without the stress or fear of a correction they responded to commands much faster and more enthusiastically. I do not see a “dog” as good or bad. I look at a reaction and try to find what it is that caused that reaction. Depending on what’s needed I apply techniques that create a good feeling in my trail companion.
If you haven’t already, I invite you to start looking companions as fellow living beings of this planet that we share.
Bless
Michael
